STREAMLINING THE DIGITAL EXPERIENCE.

Harbor Bay Hospitality launched their flagship café, Edda Coffee, on the most desirable and visible corner of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood in 2022. The café design and operation are highly sophisticated, targeting an equally sophisticated young professional clientele.

As Harbor Bay sought to grow the Edda Coffee e-commerce business, they knew they needed to overhaul the Edda website. The original site wasn’t meeting the needs of café visitors: the most important information was missing or difficult to find — and the design and e-commerce experience were both lacking.

Furthermore, there was no clear, intuitive path and customer experience for each of Edda’s three unique customer categories: cafe visitors, online coffee customers, and wholesale coffee customers.

Sixth Element helped the Edda team expand and refine their visual brand identity and digital strategy to meet the needs of an expanding e-commerce business while also augmenting UX for brick-and-mortar retail customers.

BEST PRACTICE UX FOR BRICK & MORTAR + E-COMMERCE.

Sixth Element created three unique, highly intuitive user paths for Edda Coffee — each with one-click navigation from the home page:

  1. Café visitors can quickly and easily find key information: Store location, hours, contact info, menus & order to-go.

  2. Coffee customers have a smooth and intuitive experience to purchase Edda Coffee and merch online and create/manage subscriptions.

  3. Wholesale customers can easily apply for and access special discounted bulk pricing, place orders, and create/manage subscriptions. Sixth Element developed a custom Shopify app to create the ideal UX, simply management, and automate critical actions for Wholesale customers. The app ensures accurate pricing for all unique customer types, triggers automated customer and internal email alerts at all key points in the sign up and application process, and more.

With simplified navigation and improved UX, the site has more content than the original, but feels more streamlined. A much sleeker aesthetic brings to life the design and spirit of the space, as well as the quality of the lovingly-sourced third wave coffee.
